After purchasing a Bird Air Im very impressed with the Segway E45. The non puncture tires were a very important deciding factor. Shock absorbers make a difference because the Bird Air doesn’t have that feature. The throttle feels powerful and the speed is controllable to experience riders. Braking is customizable via the segway app. I changed it from light to meduim and there is also heavy/strong brake power. There is also the traditioal step break. The scooter can be a traditional kick scooter if the battery depletes. I travel to work at night full power sports mode with the headlights on and can make it 5 miles with about 60% battery left from a full charge. Another 5 miles home without the headlight and stop to the store on the way home still with 30% after the 10 miles driven. 40 pounds feels like a great quality adult scooter. Customizable lights to be seen at night via the app. It keeps track of your miles too. Now that i have over 100 miles driven on these e scooters i had to give a realistic review. No more expensive uber and lyft to work. The police see me all the time and dont bother me, just always pay attention to the law! Stay in the bike lane or as close to the curb as you can. Surrender the road and make it easy for cars behind you to pass, if police see you can handle yourself in traffic you’ll become a recognized local driver. Perfect to drive to work and lock up and drive home for Free! Gas costs money!! This one takes time to charge but is worth it if you expect to drive 10 plus miles? And this thing is a monster uphill. 20%hill grade vs 8% on my Bird Air! Easy to fold and pick up fling over my shoulder and walk around with it. I weigh 150-160 and I can go grocery shopping carrying it on my shoulder the entire time even while scanning my own items. Its 40 pounds its truly not heavy. Speed is fine just remember humans om average run 5 mph. 15mph for track runners. And the record is 28mph. So the human body isn’t designed to fall at those speeds! Find your style and take it easy. Understand its much faster than a bus that doesnt go directly to your destination. So relax and drive with 100% focus at all times. I drive with car mirrors passing me about 4 inches from my elbow. If you cannot drive in a straight line, practice until you can before driving in the street. The future is here so set the best examples to keep these things around! Drivers respect us, give us our space because we arent hiding in a car surrounded by protection sitting down with windows and a seat belt. Coexist and enjoy life!!Be aware of the neighborhoods you ride in at all times. White kids called me the N word as i drove past because they were jealous of my e scooter and unbothered energy. Stop at red lights and stop sighns. Make sure you are comfortable stopping at a stop sign and kicking to go again while maintaining balance. Always keep am eye out for rocks and other road hazzards. Make sure your reaction to rough terrain isnt push down hard on the acceleration! Always be in position to brake if needed. Bending your knees helps with turns. And dont be afraid to slow down as you turn for full control! Look out for potholes !!! If the streets in your state has potholes i suggest a helmet. Drive safe! And also research locks to always lock your machine down! The segway app is NOT secure enough. Psychically lock it & use a key! People who drive cars dont get to work for free but with this you can!

Got about 200 miles in on my E45 before it was unfortunately stolen due to a hasty locking during a poorly planned grocery run. Now that I am buying my second scooter, I figure it’s time to let go and finally leave my informed review. Here are my experiential stats and ratings for your information:Range at 15mph: 12 milesAcceleration to 15 mph: 6 secondsDeceleration from 15 to 0: 1.5 secondsHill grade: 20 degreesBuild Quality: OKRide Quality: OKAesthetics: GoodMaintenance: ExcellentSupport: MiserableOverall: Feature light but very safe scooter recommended for beginner joyriders.I never rode the E45 at top speed, maybe just once or twice to see how it felt. I work exactly 6.2 miles from home. At 15 mph, the range of the device was very consistently not enough to get to work and back on one charge, cutting off on the last half mile so overall about 12 miles in range which seems retrospectively in line with the marketing. Performance was much much worse in the cold or when the ground was moist. Like most scooters, the E45 struggled on uphills and I learned to love giving the machine a pedal assist. However, on downhills the triple braking system really shined. It will only lock up if you go irresponsibly fast and even then it will slow you down significantly. The braking system literally saved my life at least twice and I feel it makes this scooter one of the safest ones out there.Handling was good, acceleration was good overall (worse in cold weather), however the solid tires and lack of suspension means you will feel every bump and pebble. Yet never having to worry about a flat was a huge load off my mind and I consider the solid tires a plus that I will miss on more fully featured scooters. The scooter was easy to clean and maintain and I like the simplistic and solid look of the Ninebot line.I loved the locking folding mechanism of the scooter and at 5’4” the board was just roomy enough and the handlebar height (NOT ADJUSTABLE!) was adequate. The build quality seemed good and the scooter felt solid coming out of the box. Setup was super easy, just a couple screws. After maybe 50 miles of use on the poorly maintained NYC bike paths, though, the steering column developed a significant wobble and the tail plate began to rattle constantly. A major annoyance was that the handle grips would slide off whilst riding. Despite all this, I grew to love this scooter and its quirks, and truly miss it despite my numerous complaints (the most significant of which was the range which isn’t really the scooter’s fault and generally lines up with advertisement). The main problem with this scooter, unfortunately, was the customer service. The app is miserable, badly localized, and as an iOS developer I have to say it’s poorly designed and maintained. It is difficult to find basic information such as which model of scooter you have. The system that maps your ride was so broken that I stopped using the app completely, because it was unreliable for any purpose. It even has a totally pointless built in social media without having its basic features ironed out. Pathetic! My first real outing on the scooter, I wiped out against a concrete divider and lost my front reflector. The customer service stonewalled me and were no help getting a new one. I dreaded buying another scooter from this company and made sure to be able to take advantage of the plethora of service providers in my area when looking for a brand for my new scooter. For my next scooter I have chosen a VSett 8 with the 19.2a/hr battery (fka VSett 8R). I will miss my Segway Ninebot E45 but ultimately I think this is for the best. If you buy this scooter you will come to love it, again I would say it’s a great beginner scooter for those looking to joyride. If you are commuting, do your research before pulling the trigger. I would highly recommend this scooter to anyone who lives in a flat, well-maintained city with a mild climate who only needs to ride 10 miles or less at a time. I would have loved using this scooter in Mountain View, CA for example. I would call silicon valley the ideal area for this electric scooter (go figure!)

First it took forever to get here, but I can’t blame Amazon as I know all too well about supply chain issues due to my Job! Any who, now to the scooter. I bought this for my 11-year-old son for a birthday gift. He had a cheaper Hover-1 Pioneer that I got from Wally World for $99 he had that for 2 years and its now the friend’s backup scoot when they come over. The E45 scooter runs very well no major issues so far and he now has 495 miles on it with no issues. My son hits 20mph at 100lbs and I hit 19mph at 180lbs so quick enough for an 11-year-old! Battery seems very good; he uses maybe 2 bars out of 6 on an 8-mile trip. The only thing I would say for a negative is that the back step on foot break/fender does rattle a bit, which could get annoying to some. Second is the front shock on it makes a clunking noise when you hit a decent size bump, that could use some re-engineering 4 sure. The dual density non-inflated tires are a Life saver/Dad saver. The old scoot has air filled tires; I have changed at least 8x the front tub/tire and they are not easy to change, so keep that in mind. Not anymore! Yeah! They do absorb a good amount of road chatter not as much as the air filled but pretty close. I will try to keep this review updated as it turns 1 year old, right now its 5 months since we had it. So far so good and my son is very happy and rides it every day when it’s not raining. I hope someone finds this review Helpful
