The rear wheel makes noise when riding or braking due to the braking system (disc and pads rub) however max speed (15MPH) is still attainable. A scooter repair shop informed me its normal for brand new brake pads to be almost “too thick” and eventually they wear and the noise won’t be apparent. I had to replace the front tire within weeks of riding it because the inner tube popped. While I’m sure it’s simple enough for a scooter mechanic, to me, the tire didn’t seem easy to change. My local scooter repair shop charged me $93 ($40 new tire, $50 labor) to fix it. I replaced it with a solid tire opposed to replacing the air inner tube. Air inner tubes are prone to pop and city streets can be rough. The manufacturer no longer makes parts for this Hover-1 Journey scooter and amazon customer service isn’t helpful with repair questions. Local electric scooter repair shops are few and far between in the SF Bay Area but they are out there and are able to replace parts. If you’re starting from stop going uphill-there isn’t much power, you must assist it by manually scooting and then it’ll pick up speed with your help. It’s still a great riding experience. It’s compact and fits easily in a car. Despite the trouble I had (i.e. rear wheel noise, flat tire) I really enjoy this scooter, especially for the cost.

(TLDR: I got this scooter for less than 300 all together and I would hardly recommend it then. Its not the best built as I’ve heard rattling since week 1, lost my taillight while riding one day, battery life isn’t the best when flooring it, and riding on hills is the worst thing to do on this. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR $400 I GOT IT OVER $100 CHEAPER AND STILL ISNT WORTH IT)I’ve now had this scooter for 2 months. So far I haven’t had issues like others where they had to get replacements. I saw that people had blown their tires so I let some air out when I got it and it’s been fine since then. It gets you everywhere and I’ve been carrying it around my college campus almost daily. But I’ve noticed so many things using it so much. I like being able to fold it, it takes mere seconds to fold and pick up. It is slightly heavy especially carrying it all day so I would advise leaving it outside. Besides that that’s all the good I can think of. The company at least doesn’t lie when they say don’t ride on inclines. It’s performance absolutely tanks but that’s for most e-scooters I suspect. I’ve not gotten it to 16 miles in terms of range but I constantly floor the acceleration so that would likely be the reason why I haven’t. The build quality is scary as I’ve heard it rattle since I got it. It rattle to the point where I lost my taillight while riding it. (This is more of a side note but the speed limiter is somewhat harsh as if it goes over 15mph, it tries to slow you down asap. This is more of a personal gripe though and I wouldn’t take this part to heart) This scooter, although as fulfilled my needs, is not worth the $400 asking price and yes I got this significantly cheaper a couple months ago. I do not recommend this AT ALL. But if you really really want it, riding this can be fun and I haven’t had it as bad as others so do what you will.

I’m right at the max weight limit (264 lbs). I knew I would not get near the max range because of that, but even still I’m fairly happy with this purchase. I took my initial ride with a full battery up a 25 degree incline and ran it for about 1 1/2 miles before the Motor overheated and shut down (good safety feature to protect itself) I got about 5 miles total on a hilly terrain. I also didn’t check the tires before hand, so I was running on under inflated tires.I charged it back up, aired up the tires, and tested it on more level surfaces (some small hills) got a total range just over 8 miles. It was fairly easy to maintain 13-15 mph on the small hills, and easily over 16 going down the hills.Again I’m at the max weight, and running it at top speed most of the time. Screen shots show mile by mile average speed for those 8 miles. You will notice the overall speed and power dips as the battery discharges.Definitely recommend. My next one will probably be the Blackhawk version.

I’ve had several trips now so wanted to share my feedback. I weigh about 160lbs. I’ve gotten nowhere near 16 miles range on a full charge. Mostly flat surface around town. 10-11 miles maximum with the last 2 miles or so going at half the speed until the battery fully depletes. Also, at 14mph this scooter is slower than my other one at 15.5 mph. Just 1.5mph is quite noticeable. The installation was horrible. It came with extra screws. At first, I thought why do you need all these spare screws. However, when trying to screw it in you will quickly find out it doesn’t go in all the way and you end up messing up the thread on the screw and needing to try a new screw. After about 15min or trying to screw it in, I hav exhausted all the spare screws. So, now I have one screw sticking out and not being able to tighten by hand all the way in. See photo of what I mean. The price on this is decent, but I’d probably be willing to spend a little more for better range and speed.

I bought it for a gift and it was used 1 time and had throttle issues and Amazon won’t do anything to help because it was like 45 day since I bought it and they hung up on me. I did get it taken care of through the manufacturer but very unhappy with how Amazon handled it especially at the price. So I did get it replaced. I had to get a different color and it took like 2 weeks but dealing with the manufacturer was not bad. Easy to assemble and handles well

At full charge, this Scooter performs well on flat level ground. However, on slight up-hill grades Scooter’s performance will decrease. Battery life drains faster than expected. Recommended for shorty around residential community use. Properly inflated tires are a must. However, the tire valve stems are too short making it impossible to inflate tires with the supplied manual air pump.
